The Patrimony Department is mainly involved in the film as part of catalogs.
If they are treated unit, each film is part of a whole (the catalog), for which a general approach is defined.
In this context, a procedure using red thread, was a development to optimize the research and analysis elements.
This is broken down into several phases.
Phase 1 - The location:
From a list of titles, a first localization element is checked or film made from laboratories and stocks historically known.
The expansion of the research is conducted if the first steps do not lead to a comprehensive and coherent.
A control of registration of rights is verified with stock holders.
The inventory listing is sought from stakeholders.
A reconciliation of the inventory is made from available databases.
Phase 2 - Inventory theory:
Based on listings provided by individual stocks, an inventory statement is made.
An initial list of equipment available is established. It will recap in order, the elements may be used to preserve or restore the image and sound.
Each inventory will determine whether the film is complete, and can potentially move into Phase 3, or is incomplete and if the phase 1 should be continued.
Phase 3 - The physical inventory:
The physical inventory is to collect if possible in one place all the material.
The physical hardware will be compared is identified from the inventory theory (drawn from listings).
As each box is counted, the inventory will be theoretical in this way consolidated.
An initial physical state will be established on the basis of the condition boxes and their contents.
Each set of elements will be reconstructed, the information contained on the boxes will be notified.
Depending on conditions, customer numbers will be added physically to the material and will further referencing the stock (if one is present).
Phase 4 - Verification:
The audit elements will be based on the wishes of utilization.
The selection of equipment which might be used is established.
A comparison of image elements and is conducted to verify compliance of the assembly and of different versions.
Such checks may give rise to early work of building or repairing 35mm
The control elements gives rise to the issuance of an audit report.
Each report will include preliminary findings on the general and specific difficulties.
Phase 5 - Evaluation, coordination and monitoring of work drawing security and / or digital restoration:
This last phase corresponds to the objectives of holdings of securities concerned.
It is also a phase of film preservation elements.
On the basis of previous phases, it is determined what is the best restoration process based on the physical problems of films, budget estimates, objectives to be fulfilled and retro schedule defined by the first deliveries.
It includes the constant monitoring of operations and the various stages of validation set with various stakeholders.
